The Luthier's Elixir - Limited Edition Print
Limited edition wall art print from an original illustration by CJP of an old varnish bottle with an astounding history.
Found in a tool box once belonging to esteemed luthier Alfred Langonet, the bottle has a label marked 'Used on Messie'. After some research through old archives it was discovered that the label commemorates the time when it's contents were used in restoration work on the world's rarest and most valuable violin - the Messiah Stradivarius, or 'Le Messie'. Alfred's grandfather, Charles, worked at W.E. Hill & Sons when the company owned Le Messie and assisted with the restoration work on the violin. Le Messie was bequethed by the Hill family to the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, England, where it remains on display. The varnish bottle sits on display in CJPs studio!
Giclée print on Somerset Rag, made from 100% cotton fibre using a traditional mould machine.
Each print is hand signed and numbered by the artist and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
